Kurkure is made from rice meal, edible vegetable oil (palm oil), corn meal, gram meal, spices (such as turmeric), condiments, salt, sugar, tartaric, and E631.

It contains natural, nature-identical, and artificial flavouring substances.

History and marketing

Launched in 1999, Indian actress Juhi Chawla was featured in advertisements.

In 2006, Frito-Lay announced plans to release it in American markets.

Launched in South India in 2008 with actress Simran as its brand ambassador.

It was subsequently introduced in UK and other countries. As of 2013, it is available in Western Canada and Eastern Canada.

It was launched in Bangladesh in 2015 by Transcom Consumer Products Ltd.

Controversy

In 2018, PepsiCo ordered various social media platforms to remove or block various "disparaging and defamatory" posts perpetuating a false rumour.
