As of the census of 2000, 822 people, 281 households, and 198 families resided in the city. The population density averaged 1,629.8/mi2 (634.8/km2). The 352 housing units averaged 697.9/mi2 (271.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 90.27% White, 0.12% African American, 0.97% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 6.69% from other races, and 1.58% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 39.66% of the population.
Of the 281 households, 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 13.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.2% were not families. About 27.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.19.
